Free Funnix Reading Program Download!

Straight from the site:

"During the month of January, the Funnix Reading Program will be FREE--no strings, no hidden costs. The Funnix sequence teaches 2 years worth of reading skills and is regularly priced at $249.

The program is designed by the world's most successful creator of instructional materials, Siegfried (Zig) Engelmann, a maverick professor of Education who has authored many books, including Give Your Child a Superior Mind, and highly successful reading programs like Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons.

Engelmann says of Funnix,"Teaching the lessons requires a lot less effort, and the lessons are more entertaining. Also, the program consists of 220 daily lessons, so it takes kids farther than most beginning-reading programs-- from being non readers to reading on the third-grade level."

The free version of Funnix is electronic. You download the entire package of 220 lessons and other material onto your computer, and you have everything you need to teach the program. The steps of what you do and how you do it are spelled out in Teacher’s Guide, which you review before presenting the program. Workbook and textbook activities accompany the lessons. You print these. "

My boy is only 18 months but I'm going to get this now so I'll have it when he's ready!

Amazon Mom

For those of you who haven't heard yet:

Amazon has a mom program that gives you awesome discounts on products and FREE shipping for a whole slew of products. Now I know it says mom in the title but you don't have to be a mom, there are options in the sign up for other types of caregivers too.

To make these deals even better if you have Parents, Fit Pregnancy, or Baby magazine delivered to your house they have been including either an extra 20% off coupon or a $10 off coupon code ona tear off sheet inside the magazine. I have scored some really fantastic deals on diapers and wipes lately with these, all shipped directly to my house!

Mega Swagbucks Day!

Every Friday is Mega Swagbucks Day on swagbucks.com.

What does this mean: Swagbucks is a search engine that gives you Swagbucks for doing searches you would already do anywhere else. These swagbucks can then be exchanged for prizes or giftcards.

I'm currently saving up my swagbucks to get some giftcards for Amazon.com because I am currently in love with the Amazon Mom program. Check it out:

Who doesn't love free giftcards!

Welcome Back!!!

The hiatus is over folks!

In the last year things have been crazy busy. We went on vacation to Florida. I took a summer course at Kent State for my master's degree (that I am still working on). My father moved back to the good old state of Ohio Yay!
We did a lot of work to our house this year. Which means my house was in a constant state of flux (read:disaster area) all year.

And the really big YAY!...We got pregnant and had another child, a healthy baby girl! And a whole ton of other things happened but I won't bore you with the details.

So now I have a 10 yr stepdaughter and 2 little ones under age 2. Go ahead and translate that....super busy!

But let's get this blog rolling again!

Recipe Book Review

The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook: 200 Recipes for Quick, Delicious, and Nourishing Meals That Are Easy on the Budget and a Snap to Prepare

I also have been perusing the book The $5 Dollar Dinner Mom Cookbook by Erin Chase (another blogger turned author $5 Dollar Dinners.com). I started out just looking for some new recipes that wouldn’t call for outrageous ingredients that 99% of the time, seem to be out of season and that are also affordable. Affordability is a must for my cooking because trust you me my family can eat!

Yes the recipes are fab and super affordable. The author even itemizes the prices of each ingredient in the recipes to show how it adds up. Most of the recipes also have extra frugal tips located at the bottoms of the pages.

What really rattled my noggin the most while reading was the idea of stockpiling. I have been over the course of the last 2 months been stockpiling my bathroom necessities and paper goods but I had not gotten very far in the food department. I just didn’t realize that so many foods could be frozen, it’s amazing!

This book has given me new inspiration and with it the undying lust for a freezer to hide in my basement! With tax refunds approaching my dreams of another appliance in my home looks to be coming true shortly! YAY! If you have any freezer recommendations let me know.

Now I feel compelled to visit the library again to find books on freezer cooking!
